One of the highlights of my time spent sequestered has been the opportunity to delve into Psalm 23, especially verses 5 and 6. I’m enamored at the depth to which a shepherd learns to know his sheep. A good shepherd overlooks nothing to keep each sheep healthy, safe, and secure. The Lord has helped me to understand that every need that a sheep has, and the care taken to meet these needs is analogous to the way our Great Shepherd cares for us and meets our needs. I take immense comfort in knowing that our Shepherd’s awareness of and diligence in his care of each sheep assures us that “surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life.” He’ll bring good from the chaos around us. I am thrilled and very content to know that if I’ll allow Him, our Great Shepherd will control, manage, and direct all that I do.
God never said the journey would be easy but He did say that the arrival would be worthwhile. I cannot wait to “dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
