Welcome to
NEIGHBORHOOD FELLOWSHIPS
Beginning in Spring of 2024, Neighborhood Fellowships will be a new way to connect with members of CC Philly who live near you.
Gather in a leader’s home, share a meal, and then connect around the things of God—pray, share scriptures and insights into God’s work in your life, and reach out to other neighbors.
Singles, Couples, and Families of all ages are welcome.
Sign up at church at the kiosk in the front hallway after a service, or pick up a QR code at the kiosk to sign up on your device.
The gatherings consist of a shared meal, a time of prayer or sharing, and time catching up with each other. The groups can also be an excellent place to introduce non-believers to other Christians, and to organize for neighborhood outreach or ministry.
Neighborhood home fellowships are typically 10-20 people who live in close proximity to each other and meet 1 to 2 times a month in a leader’s home or meeting place.
If we do not yet have a neighborhood home fellowship in your area, we will let you know, and keep your information on our waiting list so that we can form the fellowship, and invite you, as soon as the group is organized.
Frequently Asked Questions
“What happens after I register?”
You will receive an email thanking you for registering, and a link to some info (a few videos) you should familiarize yourself with. Most likely a leader will contact you soon (call, email, or text) about when and where your fellowship will meet.
“What if there’s no Fellowship in my area?”
We’re hoping that we can immediately accommodate everyone who signs up. In the (hopefully unlikely) event that we cannot accommodate you right away, you will be contacted and informed that we’re working to begin a group in your area. We will then contact you as soon as we have a group organized in your area.
“How are groups divided up? How do you decide who goes to what group?”
We are trying to divide up groups based on geography. The point of Neighborhood Fellowships is to build relationships with other church members who live near you, and to reach out to your neighbors together. So we are working to keep the groups made up of people who live near each other. So…they are divided up by geography (not interests, or life-stage, or marital status, etc…).
“Can I pick the group I go to?”
Possibly. If you know of a group near you that has space, note the group you want to join in the “Additional Information” section of the registration page. We will do our best to match people up with groups they know about. However, if there is a group closer to you geographically, with open space, we will most likely assign you to the group in your area, in keeping with the mission and purpose of these groups.
“How many groups are there?”
Right now we have a little over 50 groups. We’re hoping more will be organized in the next few months.
“When and where will my group be?”
Neighborhood Fellowship group leaders set their own meeting times, but they all meet at least once a month. Most groups meet in the leader’s home, and some meet at a host home. Your group leader will give you time and location information when he contacts you.
“What will happen at the group?”
You’ll share a meal, and have a time of fellowship that will include sharing and praying together. The group leader will facilitate the fellowship time. You will most likely be asked to participate in providing the meal.
“Can I bring my kids? What will we do with the kids?”
Absolutely, Neighborhood Fellowships include the whole family. Children are included as much as they’re able to participate. There won’t be any separate childcare, so they’ll be with you for the whole time. The basic idea is that parents will be responsible for their own kids when they are at the group. Please see the videos on the Neighborhood Fellowships info page on the church website (a link will come in the welcome email) before the first meeting.
“Will my dietary restrictions be an issue?”
Feel free to make any notes of that nature in the “Additional Information” section of the registration page. We will be working to keep meals easy, as inexpensive as possible, and simple, so it may be that your particular dietary restrictions will not be able to be accommodated. But please discuss any issues with your leader.
“Can I bring my pet/support animal/service animal?”
Most likely not, except in the case of a service animal for vision impairment and situations of that nature. We are meeting in peoples’ homes, and want to respect that as much as possible. And strange animals can be a major distraction. Discuss any animals with your group leader.
“Can someone go if they don’t attend our church?”
If they attend another church, we would ask that they not become part of the Neighborhood Fellowships, because space is limited, and we are specifically aiming at fostering fellowship in our church and inviting our unsaved neighbors. They should join a group through their church! If someone does not attend any church, then they are welcomed and encouraged to attend a Neighborhood Fellowship, and to think and pray about both believing in Christ (if they’re not yet a believer), and joining the larger body of Christ at Calvary Philly.
“Can I host a group?”
Possibly! Email nf@ccphilly.org and let us know that you are interested in hosting a group. Include your address and your living situation. We will get back to you to discuss the possibility.
“Can I lead a group?”
Leading a group is an invitation-only position. However, Brian Weed is the pastor overseeing Neighborhood Fellowships, and he’s always interested in knowing who in the church is interested in Ministry. Email him at bweed@ccphilly.org and let him know what you’re thinking.
