…encourage one another and build one another up… 1 Thessalonians 5:11
The Bible deals with real life issues, and the Lord has not left us without warning of the certainty of the adversity that we will face in this world. Jesus taught His disciples, In this world you will have tribulation, but take heart; I have overcome the world (John 16:33). Scripture also reveals that the God whom we serve is the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction (2 Corinthians 1:3). When we are afflicted we look to the Scriptures for comfort. And when we consider the examples given to us in Scripture we must remember that these were ordinary men and women who have endured severe trials in their lives as the work of God unfolded before them. Trials press in and challenge us to sort out our faith. The emotional and spiritual dynamics that we face when in the midst of a trial force us to decide: What is it that I believe? Can I rely on the promises in Scripture? Why would God allow this?
The purpose of the Throne of Grace Support Group is to provide an opportunity to discuss this human struggle, the work of God in our lives, and the great hope that we have in Christ. If you are facing an illness, or the caregiver for someone who is, we invite you to join us as we search the Scripture for comfort and with confidence draw near to the Throne of Grace that we may receive mercy, and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16).
